Winter is a Good Time To Plant

Just a reminder that the winter months are a great time to plant grass.  Yes, the grass you purchase will probably be yellow or brown because the warm-season grasses we grow in Texas turn dormant in the winter; but the grass is alive and healthy and can put down roots now and be ready to take off once the temperatures warm up. And since the grass is dormant and we usually receive regular rains in the winter months the newly planted grass requires MUCH less water from you to get established!  Usually one good rain or watering from you right after you plant is all you will need to do this time of year. An Old Friend

An Old Friend

Yesterday we said goodbye to an old friend.  We purchased this forklift in 1979 and it has been a workhorse for us!  It has had some trouble over the years but we always were able to fix it and get it back to work.  It has some transmission problems now and just isn't worth the money to fix it so we had to put it out to pasture. We delivered it to Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers for their upcoming auction on November 14th & 15th.  We told them about the transmission problem and they will probably put it in their salvage section.  It does run and goes forward but only sometimes reverses!  We put a new transmission in it before and a new engine once, maybe twice; it's hard to remember.  But it was a great piece of equipment!  We'll miss you Ol' Yeller! ...
