Our sod typically comes on a pallet that contains 450 square feet of sod.

The blocks will have about a 1/2″ of dirt on them.

A typical pallet weighs about 2,500 lbs.

The size of the normal blocks on a pallet are 16″ x 24″ and there will be 170 blocks on each pallet to make 450 sq. ft.

We have a machine that cuts blocks that are 24″ x 48″ (2′ x 4′) that we call Super Slabs.  This size is special order only.  Each piece is obviously heavier than the regular size blocks but this size makes installation quite a bit faster as there are only 57 blocks on each pallet as opposed to 170 for the smaller blocks.  There are times, such as after a rain when the fields are still wet, that we cannot harvest with the Super Slab; so just be aware of that if you are interested in the larger blocks.

We also have what we call Big Roll sod that is available for bermuda grasses.  The rolls are either 24″ or 48″ wide and they vary in length but are generally in the 112′ length.  The length is determined by how many yards need to be in each roll and the weight of the sod at the time.
